Of the pre-history to the present day, marked by the names of Lucy, of the Queen of Sheba and King Salomon, of the dynasty of Menelik I up to Haile Selassie, birthplace of one of the oldest civilizations, Ethiopia was known to the Pharaohs and was already mentioned in the Old Testament.
In 1137, the dynasty of the Zagoues built of remarkable monolithic churches at Lalibela. While dynasties may change over the centuries, religion is the common thread in the history of Ethiopia and especially its northern region: Abyssinia.
The historical heritage of the Abyssine is real, it does not count less than 8 cultural sites listed as world heritage of UNESCO.

Friday, November 8, 2019. Day 2 | Adidis Abeba arrival Addis Ababa early in the morning (6:40). Reception at the airport. Transfer to the hotel to freshen up and have breakfast. We will then begin a visit to Addis Ababa: National Museum (where Lucy), Museum ethnographic in the former Palace of the Negus Haile Selassie (today located in the heart of the University), ascension of the Entoto hill overlooking Addis Ababa, and where the Museum of the King Ménélik (formerly his former Palace).

Around the 11th century, many Christians of Abyssinia went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. As this trip to Ethiopia was particularly perilous (through the deserts of Sudan and Egyptian), King Lalibela decided to build a 'black Jerusalem', in parallel to the taking of independence of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church compared Alexandria (Egypt). Thus was born Lalibela, set of cave churches, each with a distinctive personality. Lalibela is entered in the Unesco World Heritage site and considered to be one of the world wonders. We will visit this set of churches, under the careful guidance of your guide, who will point you the best details of rocks and paintings.

Night in Lalibela: Sora Lodge 3 * Sunday, November 10, 2019. Day 4 | Lalibela morning Excursion to Yemrehanna Kristos.
Located 42 km from Lalibela, it is a rock church built between the 11th and the 12th century by the Saint King Yemrehana Krestos, the predecessor of King Lalibela. It's the most beautiful eglisemonastere of the environs of Lalibela, a jewel of medieval Ethiopian art masterpiece. Aksoumite style, it was built in wood and stone under a cave.
Lunch at Lalibela. In the afternoon, visit the Sus group and Beta Ghiorgios churches.
Night in Lalibela: Sora Lodge 3 * on Monday, November 11, 2019. Day 5 | Lalibela - Aksum flight Lalibela > Aksum (and 122, 10 h 45 > 11 h 25). Home, Installation at the hotel. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. Visit of Aksum, including the famous Palace of the Queen of Sheba.
Axum, mentioned multi-seculaire is the seat of the Queen of Sheba, is said to have reigned for four hundred years BC. Its ephemeral union with the King Salomon of Jerusalem would have given a son, Menelik, founder of the Royal Ethiopian dynasty of the Menelides.
